What’s new in irSetupDiffer

The current app makes setup changes easier to scan without losing detail. Its shared source and filter pane keeps both comparison views in sync, while live connection feedback makes the iRacing status clear.

irSetupDiffer is built on iRacingTelemetrySDK, an open-source C# library for reading live iRacing sessions and IBT telemetry files.

Can I view a single iRacing setup without comparing?

Yes. Load just Setup 1 from a live session or an IBT file to read every setup parameter, grouped by category, without loading the car in iRacing. Add Setup 2 whenever you want to compare.

How do I compare two iRacing setups?

Load Setup 1 and Setup 2 from a live session or IBT files. The app displays the values side by side and calculates the difference for each comparable parameter.

Where are iRacing IBT telemetry files?

iRacing commonly saves telemetry in your Documents/iRacing/telemetry folder. Use the File button for either setup slot to browse to the IBT file you want to inspect.

Do I need telemetry recording enabled to get IBT files?

Yes, for IBT files. iRacing only writes an IBT file when telemetry recording is enabled. Loading a setup from a live session doesn't require telemetry recording.

Can I compare setups while iRacing is running?

Yes. When iRacing is connected, load the current live-session setup into either slot. This is useful for comparing snapshots as you tune.

Why is the Load from iRacing button greyed out?

That button is only enabled when iRacing is running and connected. Start iRacing and load into a session, and it will become available.

What's the difference between the parameter list and car-layout views?

The parameter list is a compact, detail-first grouping of setup categories. The car-layout view arranges the same sections around a vehicle diagram for a more visual review. Switch between them at any time.

No. irSetupDiffer is a Windows-only app and does not run on macOS.

How do updates work?

irSetupDiffer notifies you in-app when a new version is available. You choose when to accept and install it; updates are never applied automatically.

Does irSetupDiffer modify my setups or upload my data?

No. irSetupDiffer is read-only — it never writes changes back to iRacing or your files. Everything runs locally, and your setup data is never uploaded anywhere.
