irTelemetryExplorer for iRacing Beta
Browse iRacing telemetry variables and session info
irTelemetryExplorer is a Windows app for exploring what iRacing records. Open a live session or a saved IBT telemetry file to see every telemetry variable, with its type, units, and description, alongside the full session info: track, weekend, drivers, car setup, and more.
iRacing or an IBT file required
See exactly what iRacing records
Every telemetry variable
List all of the variables in a session with their type, units, and description, then filter to scalars or arrays and sort by any column.
Readable session info
iRacing's session info YAML becomes a collapsible key/value outline that stays in place as a live session updates.
One search for both
A single search box looks through variables and session info together, with suggestions grouped by page.

What's in the irTelemetryExplorer beta
irTelemetryExplorer answers the questions that come up when you work with iRacing data: what is this variable called, what units is it in, and where in the session info is the value I need?
irTelemetryExplorer is built on iRacingTelemetrySDK, an open-source C# library for reading live iRacing sessions and IBT telemetry files.
- Variables: name, type, units, and description for every variable, with All / Scalars / Arrays filters.
- Session info: the full session info YAML as a collapsible outline.
- Unified search: one box over both pages; pick a suggestion to jump straight to it.
- Live or file: switch between a live session and IBT files at any time.
- Export: save the variable list as CSV or the session info as YAML.
- Update notifications: see when a newer version is available in the app.

Frequently asked questions
Who is irTelemetryExplorer for?
Anyone curious about what iRacing records, and especially developers building telemetry apps or dashboards. It's a quick way to find the exact variable name, type, and units, or the session info key, before writing code against it.
Where are iRacing IBT telemetry files?
iRacing commonly saves telemetry in your Documents/iRacing/telemetry folder. Choose Open .ibt from the Source menu, press Ctrl+O, or pass the file path on the command line.
Can I use it while iRacing is running?
Yes. With no file open, irTelemetryExplorer connects to the live session automatically. If you have a file open when iRacing starts, the app offers to switch to live.
What can I export?
Press Ctrl+S or choose Export to save the variable list as a CSV file or the session info as a YAML file, wherever you choose.
Does irTelemetryExplorer modify my files or upload my data?
No. irTelemetryExplorer is read-only. It never changes your telemetry files or iRacing, everything runs locally, and your telemetry is never uploaded anywhere.
